The Social Development and Inclusiveness Policy Research Center at the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) organized a half-day Project Launch workshop on "Scaling Child Care to Promote Women's Economic Empowerment and Child Development in Ethiopia" on May 29, 2024. The event took place at the Capital Hotel and Spa, and was attended by stakeholders from various governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The PSI delegation led by H.E. Prof. Beyene Petros, Director General of PSI, is in Russia, Moscow, participating in the 16th BRICS academic forum. The delegation includes Dr. Mulugeta Getu, Dr. Tilahun Teferra and Mr. Markos Debebe.

Policymakers, government officials, urban agriculture experts and stakeholders gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Addis Ababa for the Policy Dialogue Forum on Ethiopian Urban Agriculture On May 23, 2024.

The forum provided a platform to discuss the challenges, opportunities and policy implications of urban agriculture in Ethiopia's rapidly growing cities. The half-day event, organized by USAID, Policy Link and the Policy Studies Institute (PSI), brought together a wide range of participants to share insights, best practices and innovative approaches to strengthen Ethiopia's urban food systems and improve food security for the growing urban population.

A delegation of the Ethiopian Policy Studies Institute (PSI), the country's leading government think tank, recently attended a two-week seminar in China, Beijing organized by China International Economic Consultants Co. Ltd. The seminar, titled "The Chinese Path to Modernization and Ethiopian Development," provided a platform for the Ethiopian delegation to learn from China's unique approach to economic and social transformation.

A Government of India sponsored Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment camp was inaugurated on April 25, 2024, in Semera, Afar Province of Ethiopia. This camp has been implemented by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), which is world’s largest organisation for rehabilitation of lower limb handicapped persons.

In a significant step towards developing a sound policy, a group of researchers from the Policy Studies Institute(PSI) actively participated in a policy review discussion held at the Ministry of Tourism on April 23, 2024. The consultation meeting at the Ministry of Tourism was attended by Dr. Amare Matebu, Dr. Selamawit Gebregziabher and Dr. Adane Kassie, who participated in the policy and strategy discussion.

An external validation workshop entitled "Characteristics of Urban Land Lease Markets in Ethiopia" was held at the Capital Hotel and Spa in Addis Ababa on April 18, 2024. The validation workshop saw the active participation of stakeholders, experts, and researchers from diverse regions of Ethiopia.

Ministry of Planning and Development, and Ethiopian Policy Studies Institute visited "Startup Ethiopia Exhibition" on April 8, 2024, at the Science Museum in Addis Ababaa. Startup Ethiopia is a national event hosting over 900 participating startups inaugurated on April 8, 2024 at the state-of-the-art science museum in the capital.

A research report entitled "Digital Technology Adoption and Access to Finance among Micro and Small Enterprises in Addis Ababa" was presented at the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) premises on March 29, 2024. The research project is led by Dr. Eyoual Demeke, Dr. Asha Sundaram (University of Auckland), and Dr. Tewodros Tesemma, which focused on the adoption of digital technologies and access to finance among micro and small enterprises in Addis Ababa. The exploratory research is financially supported by Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL).

With a rich history of hosting such gatherings, PSI once again demonstrated its commitment to fostering knowledge dissemination, promoting evidence-based decision making, and strengthening partnerships. The event served as a platform for sharing innovative research, discussing pressing issues, and exploring potential solutions to the challenges faced in various fields.
