In his presentation, Hon. George Tee Forpoh, Deputy Minister for Regional Development, Research, and Extension at the Ministry of Agriculture in the Republic of Liberia, highlighted the relevance of evidence-based monitoring in decision-making for building resilience and enhancing recovery in Liberia and Africa, using COVID-19 as a case study.

The staff of the Policy Studies Institute participated in Ethiopia's Green Legacy Initiative, planting saplings at Menelik II Preparatory School in Addis Ababa on July 17, 2023. The initiative is part of Ethiopia's ambitious plan to plant 500 million trees in the country by the end of this year.


The Ministry of Planning and Development and its accountable institutions launched this year's green legacy launching program on July 14, 2023, at the premises of the Ministry in the presence of government officials, members of the accountable institutions, regional and federal representatives, and civil society organizations.

Dr. David Evans, Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and senior fellow at the Center for Global Development who studies education, health, and social safety nets, presented a seminar on "Information on the Returns to Additional Years of Schooling" at PSI on July 10, 2023. 

It's great to hear that Dr. Ermias Gebeu, who is a researcher at PSI,  invited Dr. Evans to present his new research findings for PSI researchers and that Dr. Ermias was able to effectively facilitate and organize the seminar. During the opening of the seminar, Dr. Ermias said providing opportunities for researchers to share their work and collaborate with others is critical for advancing knowledge and improving outcomes in various fields.

Training on basic regressions with STATA and SPSS was given to the staff of PSI from July ​3 to July ​5, 2023, at the premises of PSI.

The Policy Studies Institute's Urban and Infrastructure Development Policy Study Center released its research findings on "Land Use Conflicts and their Institutional Governance in the Rural-Urban Transformation Process of Ethiopia" on July 3, 2023, at the Capital Hotel in Addis Ababa in the presence of stakeholders from different regions of Ethiopia.

A delegation from the Tigray Institute of Policy Studies(TIPS) visited the Policy Studies Institute (PSI) on June 5, 2023. The Deputy Director General of the Policy Studies Institute, H.E. Teferi Tiyaru, said at the opening of the visit that the purpose of the visit was to support and rebuild the TIPS, which was severely damaged during the recent war in the north of the country.


A research proposal defense on " Urban Agriculture in the PSI Compound" was held at the premises of PSI on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

The Policy Studies Institute (PSI) released research findings titled "FDRE Constitution After Three Decades: Inquiring into Whether and What to Amend" on May 16, 2023, at the Hilton Hotel, Addis Ababa in the presence of various stakeholders including the Ministry of Peace, House of Federation, regional government officials, National Dialogue Commission,  academics and other dignitaries.
